Have you ever...

Woken up one morning and realized that maybe you are, in fact, more like your ex-boyfriend than you care to admit?

Because I just did.

I just uttered the words "But I don't want to be dependent on anyone." Fuck me.

That is all.

i think EVERYONE says that from time to time. i definitely have. actually, i say it and think it right up until the point that i realize i'm eyes-deep in a relationship and clearly dependent on someone. whoops.

Maybe you've just been watching too many J-Lo movies?

:/

You are not like that douchebag. You actually, you know, value people. Maybe just treat this as a teeny little warning sign - don't let yourself equate togetherness with co-dependence. It's okay to let people treat you well, and that doesn't make you some helpless damsel cliche.

You can always say that whenever you want.. men suck anyways

However, once you are married, you are really screwed if you say that...

More often than I care to admit.

Relationships can exist without dependence. You'll find the balance between caring about each other and being dependent.

There were things about you that existed before DB. I think this would have been a true statement even before you met him. It just seems like a "bad thing" now because his name is associated with it. Before (and what it will be again) it was just, "Wow, that's a crappy statement I just made. Let's fix it."
